i-TRIBOMAT
Laying foundations for the European Tribology Centre
i-TRIBOMAT was an ambitious initiative which aimed to establish an Intelligent Open Test Bed for Tribological Materials Characterisation. It paved the way for a completely new collaborative approach for infrastructure, competence and data sharing. I-TRIBOMAT applied Artificial Intelligence to the characterization of tribological materials as a way to foster innovation in European manufacturing industries, especially SMEs. It has established the World’s first open test bed dedicated to validating and upscaling conventional and new materials for mechanical components.
As an outcome of the project, the i-TRIBOMAT – the European Tribology Centre (ETC) has been established.
Europlan assisted in the writing and finalisation of the proposal which was financed under the Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and completed successfully and in time.
